BELLA VISTA / ANTIPAXOS
If you want to eat at Bella Vista (and you do), you need to plan ahead.
It is popular and often full, so best advice is to contact them ahead of time, making a reservation.
This is particularly important as it is located on the island of Antipaxos, where there are very few other restaurants and none with the same level of quality and dedication.
You don’t want to travel all this way, only to be turned away at the door because it is already full.
Antipaxos is a small island with very few inhabitants, of which almost no one lives here all year round.
There are two main reasons to come here: its natural beauty and the feeling of being almost outside of time itself, hidden away on an exotic island few people even know exists.
A third reason could very well be to have late lunch (the restaurant does not serve dinner, as most guests are only day-visitors to Antipaxos) at Bella Vista, trying their versions of Greek dishes, all made from fresh, local ingredients.
As Bella Vista is located on a remote island, there are two options in getting here: Either you stay at nearby Paxos, going on a boat-ride for about ten minutes (or longer, depending on whether or not the boat’s captain decides he wants to show you the scenic east side of Paxos, with its many grottos and nautral caves, or not).
If you chose this option, you will be part of the group that the majority of guests at Bella Vista belongs to – the day visitors, who come here either from Corfu or Paxos.
Your other option is to rent a villa on the island, and if so, you will probably live nearby, as Antipaxos is so small that there are no actual distances between places.
Then, you will simply stroll down the road from your house, reaching Bella Vista from the back. The restaurant is located on a high cliff, close to Voutoumi beach.
As there are very few houses on Antipaxos, and even fewer available to rent, you will be a very exclusive minority.
From the beach, a flight of stairs leads up to the restaurant, arriving at the terrace with the view that has given name to the restaurant.
There is no need to stress going up (or down) these stairs.
Take your time, so you don’t arrive out of breath, sweaty or tired.
The restaurant’s opening hours are adapted to the day-visitors, and so they open around noon and close approximately when the sun sets.
