B&B LA CHANCELIÉRE / SANCERRE
The B&B La Chancelière is not the easiest to find, tucked away on an anonymous backstreet in the small village Saint-Satur, only a few minutes by car from neighbouring Sancerre.
You enter from the back entrance, and so the first impression is (incorrectly) of a smaller and rather unassuming villa, until you walk up the stairs to the large terrace, and suddenly realize the true scale, beauty and charm of this mansion.
The green garden includes a large lawn, overflowing flowerbeds and luscious trees, perfect for lounging, relaxing with family or playing with pets.
Every evening, Sancerre wine and some goat cheese – the famous local delicacy “crottin de Cavignol” – is served on the terrace (and included in the room price). In the morning, this is also where the generous breakfast is served.
Each of the five rooms is different, but all are comfortable and nicely decorated. The rooms are all on the second floor of the mansion, but there is a lift to aid those not comfortable with stairs.
The historic house is an experience in itself, but it is also conveniently located, not far from the many vineyards of this area (and the reason most people come to this part of France).
The dog-loving owners are friendly, social and accommodating, making sure that everyone has what they need for a perfect stay.
